Headache or Migraine Symptoms?
Do You Have Migraine Symptoms Or Just Bad Headaches?
When your head hurts, you might not care what to call it—it just hurts, and you want it to stop. But understanding whether or not you have migraine symptoms or just a regular headache can get you the right treatment for your ailment. If you know what relieves the pain, you can stop it from happening in the future.
What Are Headaches?
There is more than one type of headache, but they all result in unpleasant pain and pressure in the head region. Some are mild while others are severe, and some can occur on one side of the head while others take over both sides. Many people have headaches in the temple area, behind the forehead, and stemming from the neck. They can last for half an hour or several days. Tension headaches are the most common and are triggered by muscle strains, stress, and anxiety, but there are many other kinds including sinus headaches and cluster headaches, among others.
What Are Migraines?
Migraines are always intense or severe and have symptoms along with them other than just pain in the head area. They might also come with nausea, pain behind one eye or the ear, temporary vision blurring or loss, sensitivity to light and sound, seeing spots or flashing lights, and upset stomachs. Migraines can make people have trouble thinking and they can make small, taste, or touch feel unusual. They can also bring a numbness to the face or hands. Migraines are often triggered by something, though that is not always the case.
Migraine Treatments Aren’t As Easy to Deal With
Most people have had a headache at some point and they generally treat it with relaxation techniques like stretches, massage, heat therapy, or an over the counter medication. Migraines, however, are harder to treat because their causes are harder to pinpoint. You might take prescriptions medications, but you may also want to make changes in your diet and lifestyle. Stress reduction is always a good avenue to try in order to reduce migraines in frequency and intensity. The treatments vary based on possible causes and symptoms. Sometimes, it may take a few tries to find the proper treatment to make certain symptoms respond positively
Treat Migraine Symptoms Early
Migraines aren’t like headaches that come and go on their own. They are inconvenient, at best, and debilitating at worse. Distinguishing if you have headaches or migraines can be tricky but paying attention to what happens around their occurrences can help. When you have even one migraine, you will likely have another so treating the symptoms is a good idea. Talk to your chiropractor about possible treatments. Regular adjustments, massage, or spinal decompression could help you head in the right direction.
